"Fairness" doesn't apply to Christians
The Fairness doctrine that Congress is trying to push through is definitely anti-Christian. It is an unconstitutional restriction of conservatives free speech, and an unconstitutional compulsion of opposing viewpoints...government mandated speech.
HOW DID WE GET FROM JEFFERSON'S BILL OF RIGHTS TO THIS?
In 1949, President Harry Truman started it by establishing his Fairness Doctrine. Broadcast stations were now required to air programs with opposing viewpoints.
In 1986 the U.S. Court of Appeals ruled the "Fairness" Doctrine was unconstitutional. The doctrine, was not, after all, an actual law, only a regulation, which could be rescinded by the FCC.
In 1987, President Ronald Reagan ended it. The Doctrine violated the First Amendment and contradicted the public interest. Reagan also vetoed a bill that was passed later that year by a liberal Congress which would have made it law.
In 1993, President Bill Clinton supported it, but failed in Congress to reinstitute it.
In 2007, Senator Pelosi and her liberal Congress mobilized to reintroduce the Fairness in order to shut down conservative voices prior to national elections; their efforts fell short.
Today, an extremely liberal Congress. with Representative Pence and Senator DeMint, and others are pushing agair to reintroduce the Doctrine, but as a law under the Broadcaster Freedom Act of 2009 (HR 226; S 34).
Soon conservatives and many Ministers will be forced to keep quiet about issues such as abortion and homosexuality or face prison.
We must stand together and fight this onslaught against our Freedom afforded us in the First and Second Amendments. We need to make known our dissatisfaction to how our government is leading us in the upcoming elections and vote only for conservatives and on how they have voted on issues in the past. If they have voted against our rights GET THEM OUT of office.
As for President Obama, we need him to be accounted to the American people and if he continues his arogant ways we need to demand impeachment. We must pray for our leaders but when they ignore the people then we must take action to remove them from there position at the election booth.
